Community and Software Architecture Events

We pride ourselves on being active members of the Austin community and giving back. Here’s a list of professional events and charities that we sponsor and support.

Microsoft DevOps User Group

Clear Measure sponsors the Microsoft DevOps User Group, which holds meetings in the Austin area and virtually via web conference. The group consists of software professionals who work on the Microsoft

platform and want to learn about DevOps, software architecture and release management best practices. It recognizes technical practices included in the DevOps Handbook written by Gene Kim, Jez Humble, Patrick Bebois, and John Willis, which all members are encouraged to read. Clear Measure implements these practices on Visual Studio-based software, leveraging VSTS, running on Azure or on Windows servers.

Software Development Workshops

We encourage learning software development through hands-on experience. So, we started offering interactive software development workshops on advanced topics such as CQRS, Event Sourcing, message-driven

architectures, automated deployments into the cloud and continuous delivery (with no long slide presentations). (All events and workshops are now arranged and managed by the Austin Microsoft DevOps User Group.)

Code the Town: Hour of Code Training

We believe it is our responsibility to help prepare students to work in a technology-based environment. We also want to build a community of professionals and students that have a passion for coding and teaching.

Therefore, we host “Code the Town” training at local schools to recruit volunteers to provide age-appropriate Hour of Code classes to students at all grade levels.

Community Outreach

Disaster Relief

Clear Measure matched 2:1 all employee monetary donations made to charitable agencies involved in Hurricane Harvey disaster relief, such as:

Austin Disaster Relief Network

The Austin Disaster Relief Network enables and empowers churches, businesses and community groups to organize, prepare, mobilize, and respond quickly in the event of a disaster. We participated in Hurricane Harvey disaster relief where we worked in the Austin Disaster Relief Network warehouse helping in various capacities such as clean up, sorting donations, putting together survivor kits, etc.

Safe Place

Safe Place provides shelter and safety for individuals and families affected by domestic violence, and sexual assault and exploitation through campus-based prevention and intervention services. We have adopted Safe Place families during the holidays for the past four years.

Ronald McDonald House Charities

The mission of Ronald McDonald House Charities is to keep families with sick children together and near the care and resources they need. We provide support by helping plan and cook meals for families that have spent the day at the hospital caring for a loved one.
